Vinegar and Baking Soda
The Salad Dressing of Glass - One of the most effective alternatives to cleaning glass and windows with ammonia-based cleaners is to use vinegar. Simply fill a spray bottle with vinegar or vinegar mixed with water (25%) and spray on windows or mirrors to be cleaned. Scrub stubborn spots with a plastic sponge and wipe clean with a cloth (diapers work great). Try this and you won't spend another dollar on a bottle of commercial window cleaner.
Baking Soda Cleanser "No Baking Required" - Baking soda is an all-purpose cleanser and works great on sinks and counter tops. Our parents used baking soda and salt to brush their teeth and baking soda is showing up in commercial brands of toothpaste. To use baking soda as a cleanser, just sprinkle it on counter tops or in sinks and scrub with a rough sponge. This technique works well on all but heavy stains or food that you haven't cleaned up for weeks.
The Heimlich Maneuver for Clogged Drains - What happens if you combine baking soda and vinegar? You might remember from your school days that mixing an acid and base together creates a powerful reaction. You can take advantage of this reaction to help clear out stopped up sinks and drains. Dump a cup of baking soda down the drain and pour in a cup of vinegar. Close off the opening so that the force of the reaction is directed downward. (This technique will not unstop drains clogged with hair, ping-pong balls or stuffed animals.)
